Sell the same seat once. Get paid every time it changes hands.

One script puts up to ten sponsor seats on your site. You approve every sponsor, you keep 85%, and you pay nothing until a seat sells.

Making things in public

A letter about design work, shipped on Thursdays. This week: why the first version of anything should be too small to defend.

…and this is the block you paste in — your sponsors sit here

$500 · claim a seat

I keep a folder of things I shipped before they were ready. Most of them are still running. The ones I polished for another month are mostly gone, because polish is what you do when you are frightened of the reaction.

The trick is not lower standards. It is a smaller promise.

One letter a week. No archive of tips.

A wall you can fill yourself on day one.

Bring the sponsors you already sold over email. Put your own projects in the seats nobody has taken. It costs nothing, we take no cut on those, and your readers never see an empty box.

What it costs.

One fee, taken once, out of the owner’s share. There is no subscription on either side of the wall.

A $500 seat, through all three outcomes
OutcomeAmountWhat happens
per $500 seat$425to you, on the day it sells.
taken over inside your window+$425to you again for the same seat. The first sponsor’s refund comes out of the new payment, not yours.
taken over after it+$850nothing is refunded, so you keep 85% of the full $1,000.

Stripe holds the money. We never touch it.

Powered by Stripe

A sponsor pays Stripe and an owner is paid out by Stripe Connect. Our 15% is taken from the owner’s share on the way through. There is no Sponsor Slot balance, no wallet, and nothing of yours sitting in an account we control.

  • Payments and payouts run on Stripe.
  • The 15% comes out of the owner’s share, never added to the sponsor’s.
  • You set the price and the refund window. We never change them.

Companies you can ask to get paid

Businesses that already buy sponsorship. Pick one and we make the ask for you.

Worth asking

A guarantee with a clear edge.

The owner picks the window when they list. It is fixed on a buyer’s booking and cannot be shortened afterwards.

The owner’s trust dial

How safe do you want a seat to feel?

You choose the refund window when you set up the wall: 7, 14, 21 or 30 days. It is fixed on every booking made under it, so a sponsor always knows theirs before paying.

Refund window length in days
press one — the whole wall follows
a takeover inside 30 days$425 + $425You are paid twice. Their money goes back. The sponsor being replaced is refunded in full out of the new payment. You keep your share of both sales; the refund never comes out of what you were paid.
a takeover after 30 days$425 + $850You keep both payments in full.Once the window has closed nothing is refunded, so the second sale pays you 85% of the whole $1,000 instead of 85% of your original price.

7 days keeps more money with you. 30 days makes a seat easier to sell. Change it whenever you like — seats already booked keep the window they were sold under.

Snippet to first payout.

  2. 02Set seats, price and windowTwo to ten seats, your price, and 7 to 30 days of buyer protection.

  4. 04Paid, then paid again85% on the sale, and the same again every time that seat changes hands.

The next sponsor pays double.

And if that happens inside the site’s refund window, every dollar the displaced sponsor paid goes straight back to them, out of the new payment. One seat changing hands, end to end.

A seat has no end date, so the only way onto a full wall is to pay twice what the holder paid. If they are still inside the site’s refund window, their money goes back to them out of yours.

Questions worth asking first.

What if the owner turns my logo down?

Nothing is charged. The owner sees exactly what would render on their page before they say yes, and they can decline without giving a reason.

What if somebody takes my seat the day after I pay?

Inside the site’s refund window you get every dollar back, out of the payment that displaced you. After the window ends the run is finished and nothing is refunded.

Can the owner shorten my refund window after I book?

No. The window is fixed on your booking and cannot be changed afterwards, whatever the owner sets for later buyers.

Who actually holds the money?

Stripe. A sponsor pays Stripe and an owner is paid out by Stripe; the 15% is taken from the owner’s share on the way through.

What renders before any seat has sold?

Nothing at all. No placeholders, no vacancy count, no filler. Your readers see the wall only once there is a sponsor in it.

What happens to my site if your server goes down?

Nothing. The tag is async and the wall is drawn inside a sandboxed iframe, so it cannot block your page from rendering or reach anything outside its own box. If our origin cannot be reached the block stays at zero height and the rest of your page is untouched.

What if Sponsor Slot shuts down while somebody holds a seat?

The wall stops rendering and the snippet becomes inert. Any sponsor still inside their refund window is refunded in full, on the same rule a takeover follows; a sponsor past their window has had the run they paid for. Nothing is owed by you either way.

How fast does the script load, and what does it do to my page?

The loader is 3.5 KB gzipped, loaded async, with no cookies, no storage and no visitor IDs. It never blocks rendering. The block does start at zero height and expand once the wall arrives, the way an async image does, so paste it somewhere that is fine.

Can I reject a sponsor after they are already live?

Not from the wall. You approve before anything renders, which is where that decision belongs, and once a run is paid for the wall will not strand it. You can pause the seat so no new requests arrive, and if something is genuinely wrong, email us.

What does a reader see — is there any tracking?

A logo, a link and a line of alt text, drawn in your own type and colours. No trackers, no cookies, and no account for your readers.

Can I take the wall off my site later?

Delete the snippet and it stops rendering. Talk to us first if a seat is still inside its refund window, because that buyer is still protected.

How do payouts reach me?

Connect a Stripe account once. Every sale pays out to it on the same terms and there is nothing to invoice.

A quiet wall beats an empty one.

Until a seat sells, the snippet renders nothing at all: no placeholders, no vacancy count, no filler. Your readers see the wall only once there is a sponsor in it.
